Munira Jiwa BScPT (Physical Therapy), Spring Forest Qigong Master, has over 20 years of experience in teaching and facilitating individuals as well as groups. She was introduced to the practice of Spring Forest Qigong (SFQ), developed by Master Chunyi Lin over 10 years ago while suffering from chronic neck and back pain. She experienced such a profound healing transformation with qigong, that she now dedicates her life to sharing the practice. Munira is the “ Spreader of Qi~Joy “ at her Calgary based company, Core Energy Wellness. She is passionate about sharing SFQ to all those interested in investing in their health and well being. Munira leads weekly qigong practices as well as facilitates specialty workshops incorporating qigong for better health for a variety of focus topics such as back care, heart health and helping to alleviate stress.
Munira was the first Certified SFQ Instructor in Canada since 2009 and has been instrumental in growing the SFQ community not only in Calgary, but throughout Canada. She mentors SFQ practitioners throughout Canada and assists them in building their practice groups in their districts.
She is excited to be part of the MATCH team and part of this groundbreaking research.

Jane Sponiar, MSc. has over 30 years of experience in educating and coaching. She received a Kinesiology/Coaching degree from Charles University in Prague and started her career at the Sport Institute in Prague lecturing future coaches. After coming to Canada in 1989, she worked as a swim coach. Gradually she shifted from a competitive focus to the healing arts of tai chi, qigong, yoga and meditation to promote relaxation and healing, which is now her main objective.
Jane is the founder of the Living Tai Chi program, which includes an instructional DVD, a meditation CD and a contemplation booklet. She is also the self published author of Seedlings, a little book of thoughts and meditations. In addition to her busy teaching schedule, Jane runs a tai chi Teacher Training program in Calgary.
Jane is a firm believer in the benefits which regular tai chi and qigong practise bring. Being part of this research is just a natural continuation of her life’s passion. She is thrilled to be part of this team.
